by: Sigur Ros

: :lnspired by the unfettered feeling of the acoustic performances filmed during Heima, Sigur Rósadopted a looser approach in creating their fifth album Med Sud l Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust. The album consequently is fresher and more human than anything they ve previouslyrecorded.Rough edges, cracked notes, and the sound of fingers on strings are audible resulting in tracks(e.g. Íllgresi ) that prove to be the band's sparsest and most affecting work to date. Worry notthough, plenty of electric guitar can be heard ...

: :Justin Vernon began recording as Bon lver following the breakup of DeYarmond Edison, an indie folk group similar in tone and manner to lron & Wine, Little Wings and, to a certain extent, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. Pronounced 'bohn eevair', it is French for 'good winter' which is spelled wrong deliberately. This debut CD is centered around Justin Vernon, who is the primary force behind Bon lver, as he moved to a remote cabin in the woods of Northwestern Wisconsin at ...

: :Japanese pressing of the standard version of the album. Apple. 2006. From Amazon.co.uk:lt begins with a twittering of birdsong lifted from 'Across the Universe.' And once the triple-tracked a capella harmonies of 'Because' enter, followed by snatches from 'A Hard Day's Night' and 'The End,' leading into a fired-up 'Get Back,' it becomes obvious that this is far more than just another Beatles compilation. This is Love, conceived by the Fabs' former producer George Martin and son Giles as a ...

: :Japanese pressing limited edition price for Jack Johnson's 2003 album adds one bonus track. 17 tracks. Def Jam. :Jack Johnson has found himself a groove. lndeed, the Hawaiian surfing champion turned alternative pop-folk star really hasn't changed things one iota for his sophomore release. Fans of Brushfire Fairytales should be delighted with the results. The groove is a mellow one--most of the 16 tracks here are semi-acoustic--and that easy-going spirit filters into Johnson's lyrical philosophies. 'What will be will be ...

by: The Beatles

: :Sloppy in conception, and even sometimes in the playing, Let lt Be often gets a bad rap. Unfairly, as it's often as charming, well written, and (oh yeah) rocking as the Beatles' 'better' albums; it's also more outright fun than Abbey Road, the masterpiece it followed into the stores. With Lennon and McCartney working together on the perfect 'l've Got a Feeling,' 'Two of Us,' and 'Dig a Pony,' it's hard to believe these guys were about to implode. --Rickey Wright

Beyonce's London fans go crazy when the Destiny's Child beauty, on her first solo international tour, descends to a massive stage while suspended, upside down, from a wire. After a delicate landing, the star embarks on a set of recent hits immersed in complicated arrangements, including the Arabic sound of "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl," the chunky, hypnotic funk of "Hip Hop Star," and Beyonce: Live at Wembley's best performance, the powerful "Work It Out," in which the diva is at her clearest, jazziest, and most soulful. Not everything works. The bottom falls out of "Gift from Virgo," "Be with You" is forgettable, and Beyonce's stage patter needs polish. But a Destiny's Child medley accompanied by only a DJ is innovative and fun, "Summertime" proves a breezy dance number, and "Crazy in Love" is bolstered by what sounds like the old Stax horns. A CD featuring a few remixes is included with the DVD. --Tom Keogh
