: :lt's a bit jarring to see Mexican alt-rockera Julieta Venegas posed demurely in a wedding dress, against a pink background, on the cover of Si. lnside, the 10-track disc reflects the sugary switch, offering sweet pop arrangements and wide-eyed musings on love. Venegas' last two albums, Aqui and Bueninvento, were moodier, more introspective affairs. Savvy marketing move? Maybe, but it's given Venegas the most successful, most accessible album of her career thus far. Si is an irresistible valentine of an album, ...

: : Julieta Venegas' switch from moody, alt-rock chica to winsome pop star--via 2003's hit-packed Si--may have shocked some fans, but it also shed glorious pop light on an appealing new side of the Mexican singer. She's hardly looked back, and Limon y Sal offers a carefully crafted, dizzylingly diverse balance of both worlds. To be sure, Limon y Sal is soaked in sunny, vibrant melodies, and Venegas' offbeat stylings and charming voice make even the most bitter break-up song worthy of ...

Beyonce's London fans go crazy when the Destiny's Child beauty, on her first solo international tour, descends to a massive stage while suspended, upside down, from a wire. After a delicate landing, the star embarks on a set of recent hits immersed in complicated arrangements, including the Arabic sound of "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl," the chunky, hypnotic funk of "Hip Hop Star," and Beyonce: Live at Wembley's best performance, the powerful "Work It Out," in which the diva is at her clearest, jazziest, and most soulful. Not everything works. The bottom falls out of "Gift from Virgo," "Be with You" is forgettable, and Beyonce's stage patter needs polish. But a Destiny's Child medley accompanied by only a DJ is innovative and fun, "Summertime" proves a breezy dance number, and "Crazy in Love" is bolstered by what sounds like the old Stax horns. A CD featuring a few remixes is included with the DVD. --Tom Keogh
